EIGHTY-SEVEN years separated the youngest and oldest competitors at the Hayle Rose and Cabbage Show.
The youngest, eight-year-old Victor Kwiatkowski, grew a bean in a jar, winning a rosette and a special prize.
Rose and Cabbage Gardening Club president Ruth Atterbury-Thomas was the oldest competitor, winning the floral art category with a jubilee decoration for a church window; she also scooped a cup as the top-scoring WI member.
Show secretary Sarah Turk said there were about 140 competitive classes at the event at Hayle Day Care Centre.
"It was a lovely sunny day and Hayle Rose and Cabbage Gardening Club, with the assistance of Hayle Allotments Association, put on a lovely summer show to match," she said. "Despite the appalling weather gardeners have had to put up with all year there were plenty of vegetables, flowers and pot plants exhibited."
