My favorite inedible part of my garden is my rose collection

Gus Stewart

Hi!

I have to say that my favorite inedible part of my garden is my rose
collection. I’m in a wheelchair so it took a little extra work to get them
going, but now that they’re thriving (and tall!) I’m glad I made the
effort.

I noticed that yours is a site that a lot of rose growers must love to
frequent, so I thought I’d pass along some of my favorite articles on
caring for these beautiful blooms:

Crop Rotation ideas

Growing the same vegetables in the same spot each year can lead to problems. Soil living pests and diseases, which thrive on that particular crop, can build up in the soil to epidemic levels. Vegetables also have various mineral needs and continuous cropping of one particular crop can lead to the levels of nutrients in the soil becoming unbalanced.

Mānuka for the bees?

Watching Beechgrove they mentioned that Mānuka was also called Leptospermum

I'd never really thought about growing Mānuka - didn't really know what it was - before but with the imminent arrival of the allotment bees and having grown some Leptospermum's before perhaps it would be fun if we could grow some?

Apparently it's Leptospermum scoparium, commonly called mānuka, manuka myrtle, New Zealand teatree, broom teatree, or just tea tree, is a species of flowering plant in the myrtle family Myrtaceae, native to New Zealand and southeast Australia.

Squash - Uchi Kuri

Had a recommendation today - Squash - Uchi Kuri - and wondered if anyone else is either currently growing it, or experience of growing it?

I've put a picture in, as it apparently has several names - Uchiki Kuri, Red Onion, Red Kuri, Orange Hokkido, Kabocha and Japanese Pumpkin.  The details come from Otter Farm who also seem interesting and I wondered if anyone has any experience with buying seeds from them?
