Allotment Opening 1st March 2011
On March 1st, mayor John Bennett officially opened the council's allotments on Lethlean Lane. There are 40 plots and they have all been allocated to those on the waiting list - with over 20 still waiting.
Seen here holding the ribbon are Cllr. Anne-Marie Rance (left) and town clerk Eleanor Giggal.
The mayor quoted from the Hayle Town Crier of 1933 a question as to why there were no allotments in Hayle. 78 years later, and after a great deal of work by the town clerk and the Glebe Working committee (Cllrs Bennett, Horwell, Capper, Coombe and Pollard), we have finally delivered. (Hence the happy faces).
